McLean, Va. (August 11, 2009) – Capital One Bank announced today new additions to its South Central Market leadership team, including the appointment of bank veteran, Don Barnes as South Central Market Executive. In this newly created role within Capital One’s Branch Distribution team, Barnes will focus on national sales delivery, customer experience, distribution strategy and business analysis for Texas and Louisiana.

Capital One also announced that Ricky Otey, former Texas State President and executive responsible for branch distribution in Texas, will assume the role of Northeast Market Executive for the Bank, leading branch distribution activities New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

“We continuously look for ways to refine our banking organization to ensure that we are providing best-in-class service to our customers,” said James Jackson, Capital One Bank Head of Branch Distribution. “We have an incredibly talented and motivated team across our branch banking network. These new positions will create consistency across the organization and help us achieve business and operational efficiencies and, at the same time, ensure that we are maintaining our community focus and commitment to local banking needs.”

Before his appointment to South Central Market Executive, Don Barnes was a Louisiana Branch and Business Banking Executive and Executive Vice President for more than 200 Capital One Bank branches in the state. Barnes joined Capital One in 2007, bringing 20 years of experience with Bank One and Chase.

“Don will play a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to meet the needs of our customers in the South Central Market,” Jackson added. “He is a seasoned banker and well-respected leader, and I am confident that he will continue to make our customer-centric approach to local banking job one and, at the same time, leverage the unique market opportunities and business alignment that will help position us for future growth.”

Kent Eastman appointed Texas State President

Replacing Otey as Texas State President is Kent Eastman, former Market President of Dallas/Fort Worth and Executive Vice President, Commercial Banking, Capital One Bank. In his previous role, Eastman oversaw the bank’s community resources and activities designed to help meet the needs of the local Dallas/Fort Worth community, including philanthropy, volunteerism and community banking products and services. He also served as the Commercial Banking lead in North Texas, managing a regional group of commercial bankers that partner with major companies throughout the region on significant commercial development and economic opportunities. Eastman joined Capital One Bank in 1994, and brings more than 28 years of banking and management experience; in addition, he has a longstanding connection to the North Texas community.
