|The Mosaic Company Named Saskatchewan Business Magazine’s Business of the Year|
Saskatoon, SK, December 20, 2012 – Saskatchewan Business Magazine is proud to announce that it has named The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) as its 2012 Business of the Year.
SaskBusiness annually selects a company operating in Saskatchewan for its Business of the Year honours, based on contributions to the provincial economy, corporate citizenship and commitment to the communities in which it is active.
“Mosaic is a business leader and a community leader,” said Twila Reddekopp, SaskBusiness publisher. “Mosaic stands out as a company that is truly here for the long term, and benefits the people of the province.” Since forming in 2004, Mosaic has built a reputation as one of the top companies in Saskatchewan. Mosaic currently employs over 2,300 people in the province, and operates three potash-mining facilities located at Belle Plaine, Colonsay and Esterhazy. Through investments into expanding its potash operations, and ongoing community support, the company has shown a commitment to doing business in Saskatchewan.
“It is always an honor to be recognized by the community and our peers for a job well done,” said Walt Precourt, Senior Vice President of Potash for The Mosaic Company. “Whether we are celebrating 50 years of mining at Esterhazy, or moving our potash headquarters to Mosaic Tower in downtown Regina, Mosaic is committed to the future of this province.”
Mosaic is investing in the growth of its business and the sustainability of the Saskatchewan potash industry. The company’s $6 billion Potash Expansion Program is in progress, expected to increase its annual potash capacity 50 per cent and create about 500 permanent full-time jobs by 2021.
Significant community partnerships have also brought Mosaic to the forefront of businesses in Saskatchewan. Investments into major healthcare initiatives such as the Mosaic Heart Centre, STARS air ambulance service, and the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan displays Mosaic’s commitment to building strong and healthy communities. In addition, sponsorship of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the naming of Mosaic Stadium have made Mosaic one of the most recognized companies in the province.
