|BakBone Enhances Channel Advantage Program; BakBone Unveils New Partner Advisory Council; Announces Inaugural Partner Summit|
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2005--BakBone Software(R) (TSX:BKB)(Pink Sheets:BKBO), a global provider of data protection software, today announced significant enhancements to its North American channel partner program, Channel Advantage, which include new tools and features designed to make it easier for BakBone resellers to sell BakBone products and boost their profitability. As part of its ongoing commitment to partners, BakBone has implemented a Partner Advisory Council and announced its inaugural Partner Summit to be held at the W Hotel in San Diego, January 17-19, 2006.
While the various partner levels, including Distributor, Platinum Reseller, Silver Reseller and Authorized Reseller, remain unchanged, the new structure of BakBone's Channel Advantage program now adds more benefits to each level of accreditation, such as web-based sales certification training courses and pre-qualified end user leads, and is designed to help partners receive competitive discounts more quickly. Upon registering an account through Lead Registration, resellers can take advantage of preferred discounts and price protection.

The enhanced online resource offers a Knowledge Base that provides quick links to technical help, marketing materials such as technical collateral, competitive analyses and price configuration tools, as well as details on timely promotions, discounts and other reseller-specific information. Partners may also take advantage of web-based certification and sales training to enhance technical understanding of NetVault's advanced features and benefits. Additionally, by moving away from a more traditional cooperative marketing program to Marketing Development Funding (MDF), once they receive BakBone authorization, partners become eligible for co-funding for promotions tailored more specifically to their individual marketing or sales needs.
In addition to the Channel Advantage program upgrades, BakBone also unveiled its newly formed Partner Advisory Council (PAC), which meets for the first time on January 17, 2006. Comprised of a select group of nine key channel partners from across the U.S. representing Commercial, Federal and State Government market sectors, the PAC offers partners a forum in which to provide valuable input into BakBone's product roadmap, technology development and strategy, as well as feedback on further strengthening and building partner relationships.
