Regions Names Weaver Director of Public Affairs

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2004--Regions Financial Corp. (NYSE:RF) has named David C. Weaver to the newly created position of vice president and director of Public Affairs with responsibility for federal and state government affairs throughout Regions' nine state geographic footprint.

Weaver, with more than 19 years of experience in the fields of legislative, regulatory and public affairs and business development, will apply his knowledge and experience at a time when the Fortune 500 company is expanding its presence throughout the South and strengthening its role in positively influencing governmental policy impacting its businesses.

Weaver, 44, previously held key management positions in government affairs and business development at Sonat Inc., Southern Natural Gas Co. and El Paso Corp., and was the founding principal of Capitol Solutions Group, a consulting firm serving clients in Alabama and Georgia. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
