R. Milton Johnson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Nashville, Tennessee-based HCA, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services.
Prior to assuming his current position in January 2014, Johnson served as President and Chief Financial Officer from 2011 through 2013. He began his healthcare career with HCA in 1982, in the Company’s Tax Department. After a series of advancements, Johnson was promoted to Senior Vice President and Controller in 1998 before becoming Executive Vice President and CFO in 2004. Prior to joining HCA, Johnson worked for Ernst & Young, and has been a Certified Public Accountant (currently inactive) since 1981.
Johnson was appointed to HCA’s Board of Directors in 2009. A committed volunteer, he has held offices in a number of organizations within the community. Currently, he is Co-Chair of Partnership 2020 with the Nashville Chamber of Commerce; serves on the boards of the Nashville Health Care Council, United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, and the Board of Trustees and Regents for Belmont University. He also serves on the boards of the Sarah Cannon Research Institute and The HCA Foundation.
A native of Nashville, Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Belmont University. Milton and his wife, Denice, reside in Nashville and have two children.
