Mac-Gray Receives Maytag's First-Ever Energy Advantage Award
Mac-Gray's Commitment to ENERGY STAR Program and Support for Water Efficiency Standards Are Recognized

WALTHAM, Mass., Feb 27, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Mac-Gray Corporation (NYSE: TUC), the nation's premier provider of laundry facilities management services and energy-efficient MicroFridge(R) appliances to multi-unit housing locations, today announced it has received Maytag Corporation's first-ever Energy Advantage Award. The award is in recognition of Mac-Gray's achievements in energy conservation, including initiating proactive education programs for multi-housing property owners, colleges and universities, and laundromats, leading all distributors in Maytag's 2005 energy rebate program and deploying a record number of ENERGY STAR(R) rated washers and dryers in 2005.

"2005 was a landmark year for Mac-Gray in terms of energy and water conservation," said Neil MacLellan, chief operating officer for Mac-Gray. "We have always taken a forward-looking approach in these areas and are proud to be recognized by Maytag with its first-ever Energy Advantage Award. It reflects the tremendous progress we are making in lowering our clients water and utility costs, while continuing to protect the environment. In fact, energy conservation has become a key differentiator for Mac-Gray in the marketplace and nearly 60 percent of the washers we purchased in 2005 were ENERGY STAR rated."

In the past year, Mac-Gray has:

    * Participated in Maytag's ENERGY STAR rebate program, helping to promote
energy and water conservation to more than 65,000 prospects in 40
      states,
    * Provided extensive ENERGY STAR training to both its laundry facilities
management and product sales teams, to focus their selling on high-
      efficiency washers,
    * Promoted Maytag's ENERGY STAR products with a year-long Internet
campaign directed at both laundromat owners and multi-housing property
      managers,
    * Deployed a record number of Maytag ENERGY STAR rated washers during the
      year, and
    * Surpassed its previously stated goal of saving customers more than 300
million gallons of water with Maytag equipment.

"In 2005, Mac-Gray supported the long-awaited Energy Policy Act of 2005, which was signed into law by President Bush in August," MacLellan continued. "The bill contains several important provisions that establish new energy and water efficiency standards for manufacturers that are effective January 1, 2007. A majority of the commercial washers in the field today in apartment buildings, condominiums, college dormitories and retail laundromats do not meet these new standards. As the recognized leader in energy conservation in the laundry facilities management marketplace, we view this as a significant opportunity for Mac-Gray to gain market share. In fact, Mac-Gray was the first laundry facilities contractor to be designated as an ENERGY STAR(R) PARTNER by the Department of Energy."

Mac-Gray estimates that it is currently saving its customers who have installed high-efficiency Maytag washers more than 1.1 million gallons of water each day, or 400 million gallons annually. Based on a conservative approximation of two cycles a day per washer, Mac-Gray clients can decrease their water and utility costs by more than $100 annually per high-efficiency machine installed.

MacLellan concluded, "Going forward, energy conservation will continue to be a cornerstone for Mac-Gray and a key competitive advantage. In 2006, we will continue to pursue an aggressive agenda along a series of strategic objectives, including:

* Continuing to educate all of our customers on the features and benefits
      of ENERGY STAR rated washers,
    * Increasing our purchases of ENERGY STAR rated washers to greater than
      75% of our annual total,
    * Supporting additional legislation for improved water and energy
standards for washers both at the federal and state levels, and
    * Saving our customers an estimated half billion gallons of water annually
through the installation and use of high-efficiency washers."
