| Joe Boxer Supports Hurricane Katrina Victims with a Donation of $100,000 of Underwear & Loungewear |
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2005--Lifestyle brand, JOE BOXER announced today that it has donated $100,000 of men's, women's and kid's new underwear and loungewear to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. A truckload of product, driven by JOE BOXER employees, left New York on Friday and arrived in Houston early Tuesday morning to hand out clean underwear and loungewear to Katrina victims. The truck made numerous stops including the Houston Astrodome as well as other facilities that are housing evacuees. Joe Hovey, Executive Brand Manager of Joe Boxer, who was on hand to help distribute the much needed merchandise in Houston, stated, "After talking with numerous organizations on what would be the best way to get the underwear and loungewear to the victims it seemed much easier just to load a truck & deliver it ourselves to the Astrodome. Being there in person gave a whole new meaning to the Joe Boxer mantra, "Clean Fresh Underwear". It is so difficult to comprehend how a basic article of clothing, like underwear all of a sudden becomes solely about necessity and something not to be taken for granted." In addition to the product donation, the Joe Boxer Superboat race team will be competing in the upcoming Superboat New York Race on September 10th, 2005. The team will donate any proceeds won at the race to the relief efforts in connection with Hurricane Katrina.
