Kohl’s Department Stores Donates $1 Million to the American Red Cross to Support Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Kohl’s associates also encouraged to volunteer in impacted communities MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2012-- Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) today announced a $1 million cash donation toward Hurricane Sandy relief efforts along the East Coast. Kohl’s is providing this donation to the American Red Cross, which is delivering much-needed emergency supplies and services in the hurricane-impacted areas. In addition to a financial contribution, Kohl’s encourages its associates to volunteer in support of cleanup efforts through its Associates in Action volunteer program. In recognition of volunteer hours, Kohl’s will donate additional corporate grants to the nonprofit organizations being supported by Kohl’s associates. “Our hearts go out to the families and communities impacted by the severe weather and flooding caused by Hurricane Sandy. Kohl’s wants these families to know that we are here to help,” said Vicki Shamion, Kohl’s senior vice president, public relations, social marketing and community relations. “The destruction has been great, the need will be ongoing, and Kohl’s is proud to be in a position to provide financial assistance, as well as volunteer service, to our valued customers, associates and residents along the East Coast.” Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteers help a range of youth-serving nonprofit organizations year-round. More than 610,000 associates have donated more than 2 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl’s has donated more than $57 million to nonprofits throughout the nation.
