Information Security

We are aware of the reports that criminals have potentially exposed information on some web sites including user names and passwords.

We have a sophisticated security program in place that actively monitors our customers’ accounts for suspicious activity. Our multi-layered defense system consists of preventative, detective and response controls managed by a team dedicated to tracking threats as they emerge.

As always, customers should be on alert for suspicious emails and attachments, and avoid clicking any unknown links. It’s always a good idea to change passwords as a precaution.

Customers should also monitor their accounts and call us if they notice any unusual activity. Email and/or text alerts help keep track of account activity by signing in to online banking at

As a reminder, Capital One accounts are protected by our $0 fraud liability policy.

We're serious about security and protecting account information is a top priority.
