Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is helping Artisans’ to scale their business, drive sales and be discovered by Amazon’s tens of millions of customers.

April 19th, 2017 – Amazon today announced that since launch in September 2016, more than 5,000 artisans from the UK and across Europe are now selling on Handmade at Amazon.

Handmade at Amazon features products across 10 categories including Jewellery, Home Decor, Artwork, Kitchen and Dining, and Furniture, with more than a third of items available for personalisation.

Customers across Europe can explore the world by discovering handmade products by Artisans in more than 50 countries. Since the launch, Artisans from all over the world have added hundreds of thousands of handcrafted products which are now available to Amazon’s customers across Amazon’s five European websites on amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.it and amazon.es, all with the familiar Amazon shopping experience that customers know and trust.

Handmade at Amazon provides Artisans with an unique opportunity to quickly and effectively grow their business, providing more time to spend in their workshop on what matters - crafting unique items for customers,” said Francois Saugier, VP, Amazon Seller Services, Europe.

In order to help scale their business, many Artisans are already using the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service, whereby Amazon stores, picks, packs and delivers items to customers on their behalf. Artisans who have enrolled in the FBA programme have seen increase in sales opportunities by an average of five times higher that of Artisans who handle their own shipping.

Fulfillment by Amazon is designed to help small businesses and Artisans to reach Prime members, Amazon’s most loyal and active customers, and provide more time to focus on their craft instead of fulfillment as they develop a full-time career,” said Simon Johnson, Director, Seller Services UK, Amazon.

Handmade at Amazon features a growing collective of Artisans from across the UK, including:

  • Lasaris: “We joined Handmade at Amazon when it launched in 2016 and since then our total sales have increased by more than 50 per cent”, said Peter Crummey, who quit his job to launch his business which he now runs with his wife from their home.
  • MooBoo Home: “Handmade at Amazon has been a great opportunity for us, as previously we only sold our products locally, but our designs are now being discovered by customers nationwide. We hope that the continued success of our business on Handmade at Amazon will mean the move from part time hobby to full time business”, said Nic and Andy Bouchard, the husband and wife team behind MooBoo Home.
  • BeeSpoke Barrels: “Selling on Handmade at Amazon has helped to fuel demand and interest in my business. One of the major successes has been the chance to hear from customers as the demand for completely, custom-made, furniture goes from strength to strength,” said Bryan Schalch, who runs his business from his Garage in Warwick.

Handmade at Amazon provides a tailored feature set that help Artisans grow their business. This includes offering Artisans:

  • World class support: Artisans benefit from a world class Amazon seller support to help them set up shop and manage the business on Amazon.
  • Be discovered by customers: Every Artisan creates an Artisan profile page with a unique URL to share their story with imagery and room to describe how they make their items.
  • Spend time on what matters: Professional tools and reports make it easy for Artisans to manage their business on Amazon, and get back to their craft.
  • Custom orders are quick and easy: Amazon Handmade has built tools to allow Artisans to specify what can be customised directly on the detail page and customers can specify the options they want, including personalisation such as names and dates during the ordering process.
