Black Friday 2014 was Amazon.co.uk’s busiest day ever with more than 5.5 million items ordered

10 million new customers worldwide tried Amazon Prime this Christmas

Luxembourg, 26 December 2014 – Amazon.co.uk today reveals 2014’s most purchased Christmas presents with Guardians of the Galaxy, NOW That's What I Call Music! 89 and The Inbetweeners 2 topping the charts.

Films, video games and music dominated the bestsellers list this year with the Marvel superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy, starring Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, the most popular product this Christmas across the UK, closely followed by the compilation album, NOW That's What I Call Music! 89.

The Inbetweeners 2 was also a big hit, as was the latest instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Grand Theft Auto V. Disney’s Frozen was a popular gift, as was Ed Sheeran’s album, x.

For the first time, Amazon.co.uk’s busiest day ever fell on Black Friday (28th November). More than 5.5 million items were ordered on Black Friday, which is a record-breaking 64 items per second, with sales peaking at 8.29am.
