Luxembourg—25 November, 2014– Amazon will host Carols by Kindlelight, the firstcarol concert of its kind, at 6pm on Thursday, December 4 at London’s famous Abbey Road Studios. Carols by Kindlelight will be filmed and made available exclusively for Amazon’s millions of Prime members through Prime Instant Video on Friday, December 12.

The concert will feature performances from Grammy, Academy and Brit Award-winning and Multi-Platinum singer-songwriter Annie Lennox; the nation’s favourite tenor Alfie Boe; queen of Rockabilly Imelda May; million-selling sporting soprano Laura Wright; 6 x Platinum-selling New Zealand opera trio Sol3 Mio; the No.1 selling classical vocal ensemble VOCES8 and further special guests.

“At Amazon we like to do things a little differently, and Carols by Kindlelight will be a unique carol concert this Christmas,” said Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President, Kindle Europe. “We’re delighted to give customers the opportunity to enjoy the spirit of Christmas at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios. For all our customers who won’t be able to join us in London, we’re excited to make the concert available exclusively through Prime Instant Video. We hope Carols by Kindlelight will provide great festive viewing in the homes of families this Christmas.”
"I'm very much looking forwards to taking part in the Carols by Kindlelight concert at Abbey Road studios,” said Annie Lennox. “It's always such a special experience to perform there as the building is so resonant with British recording history, so I'm sure that the magic of the evening will be transported beautifully to an Amazon audience."

"Carols are both beautiful and powerful, and performed this way at Abbey Road will make them even more special," said Alfie Boe. "I'm excited to welcome fans to this event, it's going to be a great night."

"When I heard about such a cool concept I immediately said yes," said Laura Wright. "This is great way to make classical Christmas songs accessible to people around the world. I can't wait to look out from the stage and see the sea of faces illuminated as they e-read the carols."

The concert will be hosted by Steve Jones (US X Factor, T4, Let's Dance for Comic Relief) and feature readings written by students from East London Arts & Music (ELAM), a new industry academy for 16-19 year olds, and read by MyAnna Buring from Amazon’s Ripper Street.
Kindle Paperwhite used by the artists will be donated to East London Arts & Music (ELAM).
