Industry leader Scott Durchslag to further boost Best Buy's online transformation
MINNEAPOLIS, October 3, 2012 -- Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) In a move designed to bolster its ability to offer consumers a world class multi-channel shopping experience, Best Buy today announced that Scott Durchslag has been named senior vice of president Best Buy and president Online and Global e-Commerce, effective October 8, 2012. In this role, Durchslag will take the helm of BestBuy.com, the world's 11th largest online retailer. Durchslag will report to Stephen Gillett, president Digital, Global Marketing and Strategy.
Durchslag will lead the company's overall strategy to advance Best Buy's global e-commerce vision, retail multi-channel capabilities and online business development. He will be responsible for all of Best Buy's global e-commerce channels, including BestBuy.com and mobile commerce.

Prior to joining Best Buy, Durchslag was president of Expedia Worldwide, the world's largest online travel agency. He was responsible for managing the overall strategy, product development, marketing and operations of its 27 sites around the world with a focus on increasing its global footprint and driving innovation to gain share. He was the primary architect for the Expedia 3.0 strategy and led the migration to its new platform.

A former McKinsey & Company partner, Durchslag has more than 25 years in the industry and has served technology clients in the U.S., Greater China and South Asia. He was elected partner in only four years and was the youngest office manager in McKinsey's history. He has held a variety of senior leadership roles including chief operating officer of Skype prior to its sale by eBay. He was also a corporate vice president at Motorola, where he was part of the critical work that doubled Motorola's market share, launched the RAZR product team and created partnerships with industry heavyweights including Google and Microsoft.
Durchslag graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
