RICHMOND, Va. (November 16, 2006)—CarMax, Inc., the nation’s largest retailer of used vehicles, is pleased to announce that Brandon Howell, Sales Consultant at the CarMax Rivergate store was honored with the CarMax "Above and Beyond" award for his actions that contributed to saving a life.

On September 15, 2006, Howell helped save a man’s life. Howell found a man unconscious in a parked car on the CarMax lot and alerted another associate who called paramedics. Both associates stayed with the man until help arrived. Paramedics revived him with medication but said the man would have died with out Howell’s quick actions.

"Brandon is an exceptional associate who really deserves the Above and Beyond award," said Rivergate Location General Manager Tim Walsh. "Because of his quick response, he saved a life."

Only a few select associates throughout the entire company nationwide are selected for the "Above and Beyond" award each month. The award consists of a bonus check of $1,000, a pizza party for the winner’s store, and a trophy. Store and region management nominates the winners for delivering exceptional customer service.
