Bridgepoint Education, Inc., is a private sector higher education company headquartered in San Diego, California. Its two regionally accredited academic institutions, Ashford University and University of the Rockies, offer a variety of degree programs online, as well as traditional on-campus study at campuses located in Clinton, Iowa (Ashford University) and Colorado Springs, Colorado (University of the Rockies) .

Specifically, Ashford University offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degree programs online, as well as Bachelor’s degree programs on campus. University of the Rockies offers Master’s and Doctoral degree programs online as well as on campus.

Bridgepoint Education was founded in 2004 on the principle that anyone who is academically prepared deserves access to high quality higher education without sacrificing quality, transferability of credits, accessibility, academic standards, or credentials. Bridgepoint’s institutions offer 1, 430 courses and 85 degree programs with 140 specialization areas. As of March 31, 2012, Bridgepoint Education had a total student enrollment (ground/campus and online) of 94,863 at Ashford University and University of the Rockies.

Bridgepoint Education’s initial public stock offering was April 15, 2009 at a share price of $10.50 per share.

As of December 31, 2011, Bridgepoint had approximately 3,900 full time and adjunct faculty members. Our adjunct faculty are part-time employees and are engaged on a course-by-course basis. As of December 31, 2011, the company also employed more than 5,000 non-faculty staff in university services, academic advising and support, enrollment services, university administration, financial services, information technology, human resources, corporate accounting, finance, and other administrative functions.
