HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kraton Polymers LLC (Kraton), a leading global engineered polymer company, today announced the appointment of Michael Oberkirch as Vice President and General Manager for Kraton’s Packaging and Films end-use.
In his new role, Oberkirch will be responsible for managing Kraton’s commercial activities, including sales and marketing for Kraton’s Packaging and Films end-use. He will report to Kevin M. Fogarty, Executive Vice President responsible for Kraton’s global commercial operations.
“We are committed to bringing packaging and film innovations to our customers,” said Fogarty. “Michael has the leadership, industry expertise and vision needed to ensure the successful growth of this business segment.”
Oberkirch has more than 25 years of experience in the broad based chemicals and plastics businesses, working in various engineering, operations and marketing roles. Prior to joining Kraton, he was the General Manager and Director of operations for AMCOR Flexibles Plant 2 facility in Mundelein, Illinois. Before AMCOR, Oberkirch held market development positions at Pechiney Plastics Packaging and GE Plastics. He began his career in 1981 as a process engineer at Amoco Chemical Company in Chocolate Bayou, Texas.
Oberkirch received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University.
Kraton is a leading global engineered polymer company and, we believe, the world’s largest producer of styrenic block copolymers (SBCs), a family of products whose chemistry was pioneered by us over forty years ago. SBCs are highly-engineered thermoplastic elastomers, which enhance the performance of numerous products by delivering a variety of attributes, including greater flexibility, resilience, strength, durability and processability. Kraton polymers are used in a wide range of applications including adhesives, coatings, consumer and personal care products, sealants, lubricants, medical, packaging, automotive, paving, roofing, and footwear products. Kraton has the leading position in nearly all of its core markets and is the only producer of SBCs with global manufacturing capability. Its production facilities are located in the United States, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Brazil, and Japan.
