VisionChina Media Inc., operates one of China's largest out-of-home digital mobile TV advertising networks, based on number of displays, using mobile digital television broadcasts to deliver content and advertising to displays on mass transportation systems. Our network delivers real-time broadcasting, including news, stock quotes, weather and traffic updates, sports highlights and entertainment programs mixed with advertisements.
According to a study conducted by CTR Market Research in 2008, more than 40 million trips are taken daily on public buses with mobile digital television displays operated by VisionChina in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Chengdu, Ningbo, Nanjing, Wuhan, Dalian, Shenyang, Harbin, Zhengzhou, Changchun, Changzhou, Taiyuan and Xiamen, which together have a total population of over 143 million residents. VisionChina Media has mobile digital television advertising operations in each of these cities either through exclusive arrangements, direct investment entities or both. As of September 30, 2009, our extensive network had over 84 thousand digital television displays across mass transportation systems in China.
At VisionChina, we distinguish ourselves from our peers through unique ability to broadcast live content and through scope of our national network. As of September 30, 2009, over 1000 domestic and international companies, including some of the world's most successful Fortune 500 brands, had advertised on our mobile network. Approximately 2/3rds of our advertisers sell fast moving consumer goods. Our client list keeps growing as companies see the benefits of advertising on well-targeted, cost-efficient, mobile media that is physically close to their points of sale. Our national scale and unique content delivery platform allows us to command premium pricing.
On October 15, 2009, the Company announced an agreement to acquire Digital Media Group ("DMG"), a leader in China's subway mobile television advertising market. The transaction will create the largest and most comprehensive mobile television advertising network in China, furthering VisionChina Media's goal to become the foremost digital television platform reaching daytime audiences in China. Upon closing, the combined company will operate bus networks in 19 of China's most affluent cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The combined company will also have exclusive subway networks in eight key cities in China, including all four of China's “Tier I” cities, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai, as well as on Hong Kong's Airport Express line. The combined company will cover 22 cities and provide a strong platform for the long-term development of the nationwide digital mobile television industry in China.
