US Airways Goes Back-to-Back with Top January On-Time Performance

For the Second Consecutive Month the Airline Ranks #1 among 10 Largest Carriers in Department of Transportation On-Time Rankings; Performance Triggers $1.8 Million in Employee Payout

TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2008--US Airways' (NYSE: LCC) on-time performance for Jan. 2008 ranked first among the 10 largest carriers as measured by the U.S. Department of Transportation, resulting in a $1.8 million payment to the airline's 36,000 employees with each employee receiving a $50 bonus.

The DOT announced its January results today and according to the Department, US Airways' arrival rate of 79.5 percent placed the airline in the number one spot in on-time performance among the 10 largest U.S. carriers, and third among the 20 airlines the Department tracks. US Airways also improved its rankings for baggage handling and customer complaints, with the best showing since Sept. and Jan. 2007, respectively.

President Scott Kirby said, "For the second straight month US Airways led all major airlines in on-time performance and also made progress in our baggage handling performance. Thanks to each of our outstanding employees for this achievement."

US Airways pays $50 to employees in months where its on-time performance is in the top three of the ten largest U.S. airlines. The airline has paid out $50 to each employee for two consecutive months, for a total of $3.6 million.
