(Fairfield, CT – May 2003) RBC Bearings' new roller production processes at its Bremen Bearings operation are resulting in higher output at lower cost. Certified to the automotive QS-9000 standard, Bremen Bearings has received numerous quality awards and special supplier certifications for their precision needle rollers and shafts. Bremen is a leading supplier of needle rollers for the automotive industry, and is well respected in the hand tool, and agricultural equipment industries. Improved roller technology helps Bremen meet the most demanding precision applications, such as in the new power transmission systems. Other applications include planetary gearsets, clutches, gearboxes, automotive steering columns, dowel pins, hinge pins, motor shafts, and small engines.

A clear sign of RBC's commitment to roller leadership, the streamlined roller production process includes innovative grinding technology and a cellular manufacturing approach at the company's Bremen Bearings division. The new process results in increased output of needle rollers, pins and shafts with exacting precision. Roller diameter tolerances can be held to .0001" or better and surface finishes of 8 micro-inches or lower. Bremen Bearings product ranges in size from .045" to .500" in diameter, by .100" to 3.50" in length.

“Grinding is the heart of the roller making process. The changes that we've implemented are unprecedented in the industry. We can efficiently meet our customers' precision, cost and delivery requirements,” says Product Manager Bob Santoro.

RBC Bearings is an industry leader in the development of precision bearing products for a diverse group of applications, including: aerospace, construction, mining and material handling equipment, mobile hydraulics systems, farm machinery, transportation equipment, automation and robotics, machine tool and semiconductor industries, and a host of other industrial applications.
