(Fairfield, CT) The quality management system at RBC Bearings' facility in Torrington, Connecticut has been certified to the aerospace industry's AS9100 standard. This designation goes beyond the typical ISO9000 standard by requiring additional qualifications relevant to the aerospace market, namely more control over suppliers and inspection procedures. The RBC products manufactured at this facility include track roller bearings for airframe components such as flaps and slats, and radial bearings for aircraft control actuators.

According to Quality Assurance Manager, Cindy Cerrigione, “We are very proud of our workforce for their commitment to reach this exemplary level of quality. Since our start up we have trained new employees, changed our internal manufacturing software and have re-certified our quality systems to AS9100 standard. That's quite a lot to accomplish in six months!”

“This achievement puts us in a class of preferred suppliers to aerospace OEMs,” said Plant Manager, Bob Hart. “For example, United Technologies demands that their suppliers be third-party registered to the AS9100 standard. Most other OEMs in this industry at least want you to be compliant to the standard.”
