New Position Responsible for Meeting Technology Needs of WaMu's Home Loans Group Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE:WM)
today announced the hiring of Richard "Rick" Furino as a business solutions
partner within the company's corporate technology division.
In the newly-created position, Furino will be responsible for the design and
delivery of all technology solutions and services to Washington Mutual's Home
"Rick brings more than 25 years of technology management and development to our
team and has specific expertise in the home loan industry," said Jerry Gross,
chief information officer at Washington Mutual. "That combination will provide a

Between the years of 1976 and 2000, Furino held executive IT positions in a
number of financial service companies including Countrywide Credit Industries,
Great Western Bank, KPMG Peat Marwick, and Gibraltar Savings. Most recently,
Furino served as chief technology officer at Creative Planet, a developer of
Internet software for the television and motion picture industry. While at
Creative Planet he led a staff of more than 100 in the delivery of technology
infrastructure and software engineering services.
Furino is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach where he
earned a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's of science
