Technology Industry Veteran Joins Washington Mutual's Technology Solutions Group as Senior Vice President; John Seddon to Head New Enterprise Program Office
SEATTLE, Jul 11, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE:WM) today announced that it has hired John Seddon as senior vice president of the enterprise program office in the company's Technology Solutions Group (TSG).

In the newly-created position, Seddon will be responsible for overall project management and oversight of the Technology Solutions Group's prioritization processes. Seddon will also oversee the technology compliance function for TSG including regulatory and audit requirements, planning and communications.

"John brings a wealth of knowledge and a very successful track record for identifying the need for and implementing technology solutions for complex enterprises," said Jerry Gross, chief information office, Washington Mutual. "John has a unique mix of skills that make him the perfect fit to head the new position."

Seddon has more than 30 years of technology experience, nearly 20 of which is within the financial services industry. Prior to joining Washington Mutual, Seddon co-founded and ran Deknatel Seddon and Associates, a consultancy which helped numerous large-scale, international banks design efficient bank systems and develop business-to-business e-commerce networks. Throughout the course of his career, in which he has worked for companies such as IBM and KPMG Peat Marwick, Seddon has held the title of consultant, IT manager, software product manager and hardware sales representative. Seddon received his undergraduate degree in computer science from the University of Essex, England, where he also received his graduate degree in science with distinction in theory of computing.
