Washington Mutual's Corporate Technology Division Announces Lewis Love As Senior Vice President of Ventures & Alliances
SEATTLE, Dec 12, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE:WM) today announced the hiring of Lewis E. Love, Jr. as senior vice president of ventures & alliances in the company's corporate technology division.

In the new position, Love will focus his efforts on the development of strategic ventures and alliances with technology companies that can help Washington Mutual to both improve and grow business. Love's specific responsibilities will include direction on all activities, from the due diligence process to ongoing relationship management, relating to acquisitions & investments, outsourcing support, joint ventures, and industry utilities.

"Mr. Lewis' established track record in banking and technology will provide us with the expertise we need to get there."

Previously, Love was head of venture investments at Westpac Banking Corp. in Sydney, Australia where he served as lead negotiator on many of the bank's joint ventures, alliances and acquisitions. While at Westpac, he also served as senior vice president of legal and compliance where he was responsible for managing all of the bank's legal affairs in America and Europe. Love also served as general counsel for the bank's treasury group, where he was part of a team that managed the capital and funding activities. Love earned a jurisprudence doctorate from New York School and a bachelor's degree in political science from State University at Buffalo.
