WaMu Continues to Receive Kudos
The J.D. Power and Associates customer satisfaction ranking is the
latest in a series of accolades recently received by WaMu.
Just last month, WaMu was judged by consumers as the most highly
regarded banking company in the U.S., based on corporate reputation.
According to the Reputation Institute, WaMu commanded the highest
score of all banking companies and was the only bank included in the
list of top 50 corporate reputations in the U.S.
Also in May, WaMu was named the leader in online checking account
growth in its 15 footprint states. According to first quarter analysis
by comScore Inc., 35% of online banking consumers selected a WaMu
checking account. Success of the account has been attributed to
industry leading customer benefits and the industry's fastest account
opening, which features an innovative paperless account process.
In March, BusinessWeek named WaMu a Top 25 Service Champ - the
only bank to make the list. Earlier in the year, Fortune designated
WaMu a Blue Ribbon Company for 2006 as a result of its listing on
Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For, America's Most Admired
Companies, Fortune 500 and Global 500.
WaMu, through its subsidiaries, is one of the nation's leading
consumer and small business banks. At March 31, 2007, WaMu and its
subsidiaries had assets of $319.99 billion. The company has a history
dating back to 1889 and its subsidiary banks currently operate nearly
2,700 consumer and small business banking stores throughout the
nation. WaMu's press releases are available at
