ADVISORY/It's Amazing What You Can Do With Hard Work and Kindness -- Ogden, Utah Volunteer Project Planned for Saturday, June 9


               Washington Mutual is First Ever National
               Sponsor for National NeighborWorks Week

    WHO/WHAT: In partnership with Your Community Connection, more than
        40 Washington Mutual volunteers will paint and landscape the
        home of an elderly Ogden resident in celebration of National
        NeighborWorks Week.

        Founded in 1984 by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation,
        National NeighborWorks Week is an annual campaign to restore
        homes and revitalize neighborhoods in hundreds of communities
        across the nation.

        Note: Washington Mutual is the first ever national sponsor for
        National NeighborWorks Week, continuing its commitment to
        building stronger communities. The company directs nearly half
        of its charitable giving to programs and projects that support
        affordable housing and community development initiatives.

        Washington Mutual's national commitment to the Neighborhood
        Reinvestment Corporation is valued at more than $2.6 million
        and is the company's largest ever financial and volunteer
        effort in support of a single housing organization.
