Washington Mutual to Webcast Its Annual Meeting and Release First Quarter 2005 Earnings on April 19

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 2005--Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE:WM) announced today that it will provide a live webcast via the Internet of its Annual Meeting to be held at 4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Benaroya Hall, 200 University Street, in Seattle, Washington.

Participants may access the live audio webcast by going to the Investor Relations portion of the company's website at www.wamu.com/ir. Participants will be in listen-only mode.

The company's first quarter 2005 earnings will be released on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, following the close of the New York Stock Exchange.

A conference call to discuss the company's financial results will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. EDT and will be hosted by Kerry Killinger, chairman and chief executive officer, and Tom Casey, executive vice president and chief financial officer. The conference call is available by telephone or on the Internet.

The dial-in number for the live conference call is 888-730-9138. Participants calling from outside the United States may dial 630-395-0018. The passcode "WaMu" is required to access the call.
