|ADVISORY/Seattle Family Gets a Home of Their Own; Leading local and national mortgage-finance companies join Habitat for Humanity to build home in NewHolly|
Executives on-site for work and dedication on Thursday September 13 at 10 am
A Seattle family will be the recipient - and owners - of a new home being built in the NewHolly development by volunteers and executives from four major financial services companies, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity - Seattle.
Participating in the Habitat for Humanity build are the Seattle-based Washington Mutual and HomeStreet Bank, along with Fannie Mae (FNM/NYSE), the nation's largest source of financing for home mortgages, and PMI Mortgage Insurance Corporation.
The three-bedroom, 1,200 sq. ft. home is a side-by-side duplex being built for Ms. Vilseb Laveturia and her children Russell, 3, and Kirsten, 7. The corporate partners are donating the $100,000 cost of the land and building materials. The construction project reflects a combination of practical hard work by volunteer builders and of good corporate citizenship by the private-sector partners who sponsored and donated the costs associated with this home-building effort. It is intended to underscore the human value of Habitat for Humanity's efforts and encourage more corporations and private-sector leaders to participate in community-based programs.
