|''Extra Extra'' -- Seattle Mariners Back-to-School Rally Tickets Available at Washington Mutual Financial Centers|
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2001--The pencils are sharpened, the backpacks packed and the classrooms assigned.
Now it's time get in the spirit for the upcoming 2001-2002 school year. In anticipation of a great year, Washington Mutual (NYSE:WM) has teamed up with the Seattle Mariners to present the annual Back-to-School Rally, scheduled for Wednesday, August 22. Tickets for this free event are available at all Puget Sound area Washington Mutual Financial Centers. Don't miss the bus on this opportunity, as tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Students and their families are invited to attend this motivating display of school spirit which gets underway with the gates opening at 11:00 AM and event kick-off at noon. With a host of activities for all ages, the Back-to-School Rally is an event the entire family is sure to enjoy. Planned activities include live music, uplifting cheers and a visit by the Mariners Moose. And to top off the rally, which is slated to culminate around 1:00 PM, there will be special appearances by several Mariners players who will talk to the kids about the importance of education.
The Mariners Back-to-School Rally is one of four components of the Washington Mutual Grand Slam Summer program offered in partnership with the Seattle Mariners.
Throughout the summer, local youths have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities. Among them, the Washington Mutual Home Run Reader's program, which encourages summer reading, the WaMu Kid's Inning, allowing kids to participate as part of the ballpark crew, and the Player Portrait in which kids are encouraged to draw a portrait of their favorite Mariner.
