More than 300 Washington Mutual volunteers tackle Central Area community revitalization projects during National NeighborWorks Week
WHO/WHAT: In partnership with the Central Area Development Association, more than 350 Washington Mutual volunteers will paint, hammer and mow their way across the Judkins Park Neighborhood in celebration of National NeighborWorks Week.
Founded in 1984 by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, National NeighborWorks Week is an annual campaign to restore homes and revitalize neighborhoods in hundreds of communities across the nation.
In addition to the day-long volunteer efforts, Washington Mutual will also host a community block party featuring:
o Larger-than-life balloon house.
o Community quilt project.
o Kicks for cash event.
o Performances by Emerald City Jazz Ensemble and Tap Central.
o Hard-hat decorating
o Food (expecting up to 750 people) and more.
Washington Mutual's commitment to the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation is valued at more than $2.6 million and is the company's largest ever financial and volunteer effort in support of a single housing organization.
