Saturday Hundreds of Volunteers Team up to Build New Playground in Just One Day for Jacksonville Children

New state-of-the-art playground designed by kids from Southwest

                        Jacksonville community

What: More than 200 volunteers from WaMu and the Housing
Partnership of Northeast Florida, organizers from KaBOOM!
and residents of the Jacksonville community will join
forces this Saturday to build a brand new, state-of-the-art
playground at the Forest Apartments in just six hours! The
blueprint for the new playground is based on drawings of
dream playgrounds provided by children who attended a
Design Day event in early May.

Why: The new playground will provide hundreds of children with a
safe place to develop creativity, imagination and
friendships. The Housing Partnership, which owns and
manages a number of multifamily affordable housing
complexes in Jacksonville, is an innovator in engaging its
residents in hands-on programs to benefit the community.
The play space is the third of 10 to be built by KaBOOM!
and WaMu nationwide in 2008, and one of more than 225
KaBOOM! will build across the country this year in an
effort to provide a great place to play within walking
distance of every child in America. The partnership is a
perfect fit for WaMu's hands-on approach to helping create
           strong, safe and vibrant communities.
