Saturday! Hundreds of Volunteers Team up to Build New Playground in Just One Day for San Antonio Children

New State-of-the-Art Playground Designed by Kids from West Side Community

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 2008--WaMu (NYSE:WM):

What: More than 200 volunteers from WaMu and the Alamo Area Mutual
Housing Association (AAMHA), organizers from KaBOOM! and
residents of the San Antonio community will join forces this
Saturday to build a brand new, safe playground at the
Castleridge Apartments in just six hours! The blueprint for
the new playground is based on drawings of dream playgrounds
provided by children who attended a Design Day event in
          March.

Why: The new playground will provide more than 150 children with a
safe place to develop creativity, imagination and
friendships. AAMHA owns and manages eight multifamily
affordable housing complexes in Bexar County and is an
innovator in engaging its residents in hands-on programs to
benefit the community. The play space is the first of 10 to
be built by KaBOOM! and WaMu nationwide in 2008, and one of
more than 225 KaBOOM! will lead across the country this year
in an effort to provide a great place to play within walking
distance of every child in America. The partnership is a
perfect fit for WaMu's hands-on approach to helping create
          strong, safe and vibrant communities.
