ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 2004--Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. (NYSE: BBW), an interactive, entertainment retailer of customized stuffed animals, today announced that T. William ("Bill") Alvey, III has been appointed General Counsel. In this new position, Alvey will be responsible for all legal, corporate governance and disclosure matters and will serve as a liaison between the Board of Directors, senior management and the company's shareholders. Alvey will report to Build-A-Bear Workshop's President and Chief Operating Officer Bear, Barry Erdos.

Alvey, 37, has 12 years of legal experience including nearly six years serving as corporate counsel or general counsel for publicly traded companies. His experience includes specialization in intellectual property, licensing and corporate compliance work.

Alvey received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and his Juris Doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a member of the State Bars of Virginia and Missouri.
