Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation Awards Grants to Pawsome Pet Programs Across the United States and Canada

Twenty eight programs will receive funding

ST. LOUIS (Oct. 9, 2007) ─ Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation is awarding cash grants totaling over $99,700 to 28 domestic pet programs in the United States and Canada. Funding for the grants is provided by the Bearemy's Kennel Pals® program. Each time a Build-A-Bear Workshop® Guest purchases a full-sized Bearemy's Kennel Pals friend—a collection of plush dogs—one dollar is donated through the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation to local animal shelters, stray pet rescue and rehabilitation organizations, and pet education programs.

To fund the expansion of existing spay and neuter programs

To cover veterinary care, rehabilitation, shelter, adoption expenses

Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society (Berkeley, CA)
To provide funding for a humane education program for school aged children

Birmingham Boston Terrier Rescue (Birmingham, AL)
To fund pre-adoption veterinary care

Caleb Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (Whitefield, NH)
To fund veterinary care of pets belonging to senior citizens

Community Partnership for Pets, Inc. (Flat Rock, NC)
To fund a spay and neuter program

Dreampower Animal Rescue Foundation (Colorado Springs, CO)
To fund pre-adoption veterinary care

Erie County SPCA (Tonawanda, NY)
To fund an adoption program

Etowah Valley Humane Society (Cartersville, GA)

Since the inception of the Bearemy Kennel Pals® program in 2001, more than $2.7 million has been awarded to over 300 animal welfare organizations. Funding is made available to charities who help domestic pets in the United States and Canada through a quarterly grant process.
