BioMed Realty Trust Files $500 Million Universal Shelf Registration Statement

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BioMed Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: BMR) today announced that it has filed a shelf registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which will permit the company to offer and sell up to an aggregate value of $500 million of its debt securities, common stock, preferred stock, warrants and other securities. The company has no immediate intention of issuing any such securities, but upon becoming effective, the registration statement could facilitate the company's issuance of debt or equity securities from time to time to take advantage of favorable market conditions. The company intends to use the proceeds from any offerings to acquire or develop additional properties and for general corporate purposes.

A registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission but has not yet become effective. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time the registration statement becomes effective.
