EnerSys Announces Price Increase Effective January 1, 2006

READING, Pa., Nov 29, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), the world's largest manufacturer, marketer and distributor of industrial batteries, today announced a general price increase of 6%. This price increase will be effective on orders placed starting January 1, 2006 on its motive power and reserve power products.

"This action is necessitated by the sustained increase in commodity costs especially lead, copper and plastics coupled with dramatically higher transportation and utility costs," said Ray Kubis, president - EnerSys Europe. "Electricity costs, which are a significant input in battery production, have been adding to the cost pressures."

"We want to assure our customers that we continue to drive to sustain our industry leading position in product development and customer service," said John Shea, executive vice president - Americas. "In order to maintain this position we find this price increase necessary."
