BOSTON, March 31, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Reflecting its role in driving
cross-industry adoption of intelligent solid-state lighting, Color Kinetics
Incorporated (Nasdaq: CLRK), a pioneer in the design, marketing and licensing
of intelligent solid-state lighting systems and technologies, today announced
the continued expansion of its OEM product line with eight new offerings --
all designed to give manufacturers flexible options for cost-effectively
developing and delivering complete lighting systems based on market-proven
technology.
The new offerings include additional Digital Light Engines (DLEs), new
power/data modules, and proprietary chips that Color Kinetics is making
available to third parties for the first time.
"This launch marks the next step in our expanding OEM product strategy,
through which we can further propagate the use of Color Kinetics' technology
in existing core markets and in entirely new ones," said Bill Sims, President
and COO, Color Kinetics. "The technology and system-based approach that we've
researched, funded and developed over seven years to date is available through
new flexible options for third parties, whether they want to leverage our
control and power technologies or develop fully integrated lighting systems."
The new Series 200 product line is based on the Chromacore(R) and
Chromasic(TM) technology platforms, and includes intelligent solid-state
lighting devices and components, such as new DLEs, power/data modules that
bring system-level intelligence to third-party power supplies or lighting
fixtures, and Color Kinetics' custom-designed Chromasic microchip. These
offerings support sophisticated color and color-changing applications that may
require control of individual LED nodes, including the display of graphics and
video. Now available are:
* Chromasic 1 -- A custom-designed microchip that integrates power,
communications, and control, representing a breakthrough in the precise
control of individual LED sources.
* CA Translator V1 -- A microchip designed to convert standard data inputs
to Chromasic data, Color Kinetics' proprietary data protocol.
* DLE C-201 -- An individually controllable node comprising tri-color LEDs
and driven by Chromasic.
* PDM-201 -- A power/data module that facilitates power and data delivery
to intelligent solid-state lighting systems.
The Series 100 product line is based on the Chromacore technology
platform, and includes intelligent solid-state lighting devices in various
form factors, all compatible with Color Kinetics' power, control, and
authoring technologies, as well as standard DMX control and authoring systems.
They support diverse color and color-changing applications such as wall
washing and grazing, cove and accent lighting, and water-based applications.
New to this line are additional DLEs and power/data modules:
* DLE L-102 -- A linear module incorporating 12 high-brightness LEDs.
* DLE R-102 -- A rectangular module incorporating 24 high-brightness,
surface-mount LEDs.
* DLE C-103 -- A circular module incorporating 24 high-brightness,
surface-mount LEDs.
* PDM-101 -- A power/data module that facilitates power and data delivery
to intelligent solid-state lighting systems.
The comprehensive OEM product line now spans core components and
subsystems, providing versatile building blocks for complete, end-to-end
lighting systems that are backed by support, services and the expertise Color
Kinetics has gained through its hundreds of thousands of intelligent solid-
state lighting devices shipped worldwide. Color Kinetics expects to offer
additional product series based on its ongoing research and development
efforts in the future.
