Amazon.com Names Paul Misener Vice President of Global Public Policy

SEATTLE--Feb. 1, 2000--Leading online retailer Amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN) (www.amazon.com) today named Paul E. Misener vice president of global public policy.

Initially based in Washington, D.C., Misener will oversee development and representation of Amazon.com's public policy positions domestically and abroad.

Misener joins Amazon.com from the Washington, D.C., law firm of Wiley, Rein & Fielding, where he was a partner and chairman of the e-commerce and Internet practice group. He was formerly manager of telecommunications and computer technology policy at Intel Corp, where he also cofounded and led the Internet Access Coalition.

"Public policy makers in the United States and around the world are addressing electronic commerce and Internet issues in ways that could have profound and lasting effects," said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. "Paul will help Amazon.com bring its ideas and customers' interests to these important decisions."

Misener is a 1985 graduate of Princeton University with a B.S.E. in electrical engineering and computer science and has a J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law.
