Amazon Introduces New York City Residents to AmazonLocal
Deals in the first week include 50% off groceries at Gristedes, $50 for $100 at Uskudar Turkish Restaurant, and 50% off tickets to Cirque du Soleil's newest show, Zarkana

NEW YORK, Aug 25, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced the arrival in New York City of AmazonLocal (www.amazonlocal.com), a new local deals marketplace offering savings of at least 50 percent off products and services at restaurants, spas, fun events and more. The company also announced that AmazonLocal will provide unique deals from Amazon-affiliated websites, including Amazon.com, MYHABIT.com and endless.com.

"Since our initial launch in Boise in June, AmazonLocal has rapidly expanded to 30 distinct locations in 10 states. Whether it's an amazing deal on local services or, in the coming months, on Amazon.com, MYHABIT.com and endless.com, AmazonLocal customers can expect to find significant savings every day," said Mike George, vice president of AmazonLocal. "In New York, there's no better way to truly understand the Big Apple than by getting the best deals the city has to offer."

In the coming weeks, New York City customers in Downtown, Midtown, Uptown (including the Upper East Side and Upper West Side) and Brooklyn will see deals such as:

  • 50% off tickets to Cirque du Soleil's newest show, Zarkana, in Midtown
  • $50 for $100 at Uskudar Turkish Restaurant in Uptown
  • $13 for $27 worth of cupcakes at Brooklyn Cupcake
  • 74% off one month of unlimited hot yoga classes at Bikram Yoga Harlem
  • $15 for $30 worth of groceries at any Upper East Side Gristedes

In the coming months, AmazonLocal is also introducing customers to unique deals from Amazon-affiliated websites, including:

  • $25 for $50 to spend on jewelry and watches at Amazon.com
  • $40 for $80 to spend at MYHABIT.com
  • $25 for $50 to spend at 6pm.com

New York City customers can go to AmazonLocal.com to purchase deals using their Amazon account today. Customers in any U.S. city can sign up to be notified when deals in their area and deals from Amazon-affiliated websites are available. Customers across the country will find deals sourced through our strategic relationship with LivingSocial, as well as directly by AmazonLocal in select markets.

Customers using the Amazon Rewards Visa will earn five (5) points for each dollar spent on AmazonLocal during 2011, which can be redeemed for goods on Amazon or cash back.
