RICHMOND, Va., July 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Genworth Financial, Inc.
(NYSE: GNW) announced that Barrett A. Toan, 59, the recently retired chairman
of Express Scripts, Inc., has been elected to its board of directors.
"Barrett Toan is a highly regarded national figure in health care policy
and management and has extensive experience both in government and in the
private sector," said Michael D. Fraizer, chairman and chief executive
officer. "He brings an impressive business and technology background to the
board, having helped make Express Scripts one of the leading pharmacy-benefits
management companies in the United States."
Express Scripts was established in 1986 and Toan joined the St. Louis
company in 1989, and was named president in 1990 and chief executive officer
in 1992, the year Express Scripts became a publicly traded company. He became
chairman of the board in 2000. Previously, Toan worked in various state
government positions in Arkansas, was commissioner of social services in the
Missouri Department of Social Services and later moved into the private
sector, launching Sanus Health Plan of St. Louis in 1985 and helping to take
it public before moving to Express Scripts.
Toan's addition to Genworth's board increases its number of directors to
nine, and the company said it would consider adding additional independent
directors.
