James S. Riepe Elected to Genworth Financial Board of Directors

RICHMOND, Va., March 22, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Genworth Financial announced that James S. Riepe, who retired at the end of 2005 as vice chairman of T. Rowe Price Group Inc., has been elected to its board of directors.

Riepe, 62, spent 24 years with T. Rowe Price, during which its assets under management rose twentyfold to $270 billion. He has led its marketing and technology activities and also developed and chaired its retirement services unit, which is a major provider to 401(k) and similar retirement programs. Long active in investment and mutual-fund industry affairs, Riepe twice chaired the board of the Investment Company Institute. He currently is on the board of The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. and is chairman of the University of Pennsylvania board of trustees.

"Jim is a well-known leader in the securities industry, and his extensive knowledge of investment markets, the retirement landscape and mutual-fund operations brings great depth to our board," said Michael D. Fraizer, chairman and chief executive officer. "This addition furthers our strategy of seeking independent directors with varied backgrounds who complement our core insurance skills."

Saiyid (Sy) T. Naqvi, chief executive officer of DeepGreen Financial, an online home-equity lender, joined the board last December, and Nancy J. Karch, director emeritus and retired senior partner of international consulting firm McKinsey & Company, was elected to the Genworth board in late October. Riepe replaces Dennis D. Dammerman, retired vice chairman and executive officer of General Electric Company, who left the Genworth board in late December.
