RICHMOND, Va., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Genworth Financial (NYSE: GNW),
still in its inaugural year as a publicly traded company, was honored for
excellence twice at the IR Magazine annual awards program in New York last
week. Genworth was recognized for Best Investor Relations for an Initial
Public Offering (IPO) and Best Corporate Advertising.
"The message that we delivered during Genworth's IPO is that we are an
execution company that delivers on its promises to investors," said Jean
Peters, senior vice president, investor relations and corporate
communications. "From the S-1 registration statement to the road show
presentation, there were dozens of Genworth associates from every part of our
company involved in crafting our message and who continue to help make
Genworth Financial successful in creating shareholder value."
Buzz Richmond, senior vice president of brand marketing, echoed Peters'
sentiments, also saying the advertising award was a team effort.
"From our initial television ad with Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, to our
participation in season two's final episodes of The Apprentice, we received
tremendous support from people all over the company," said Richmond.
"Building a new brand for a global 'start up' with more than a $100 billion in
assets required us to challenge ourselves like never before, but in the end,
it brought out the best in everyone on the team."
Richmond also gave credit to New York-based Klamath Communications, which
helped Genworth develop its award-winning ad campaigns.
According to IR Magazine, it commissions independent research covering a
broad cross-section of the US investment community, including more than 3,500
buy-side analysts, sell-side analysts and portfolio managers, who are
interviewed to provide a comprehensive insight into current investor sentiment
toward IR issues in the US market. The research serves as a benchmark of IR
best practices, singling out individuals and companies that have distinguished
themselves through their IR performance in 2004.
"We competed among the best in corporate America and came out on top in
two very important areas," said Peters. "This is a reflection of Genworth
Financial's commitment to clearly communicate with investors about how our
company performs."
