announced two key appointments within its Retirement Income & Investments
(RI&I) business to further drive its focus on the growing retirement income
market. Rob Methven has been named president of the Retirement Services
Group, leading all intermediary distribution, including strategic customer
development, wholesaling, and wholesaling support. Concurrently, Matthew
Sharpe assumes the role of chief marketing officer for RI&I, with
responsibility for leading market development across all RI&I product lines
and pursuing targeted growth strategies. Both will report directly to Pam
Schutz, RI&I president and chief executive officer.
These appointments represent expanded roles at Genworth for these proven
leaders. Methven has been with Genworth Financial since 1997. Since 2002, he
has led the company's Personal Advisor Network where he grew annual revenue by
44%, successfully completed the firm-wide consolidation of broker-dealer
activities, and completed the acquisition and integration of Hochman & Baker,
Inc.
Sharpe has been with Genworth since 1999 and was instrumental in the
development of GE Retirement Answer®, the innovative retirement income
annuity launched in 2002. In recent years, Sharpe worked with Frank T.
Gencarelli to lead the initial development of the firm's retirement income
channel. Gencarelli is leaving the post Methven is filling to assume a new
leadership role in Genworth's Protection business, where he will be senior
vice president for business development. Gencarelli will report directly to
George Zippel, Protection president and chief executive officer.
