RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Genworth Financial, Inc. (NYSE: GNW) announced that Risa J. Lavizzo-Mourey, 53, has been elected to its board of directors. Lavizzo-Mourey is president and chief executive officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation was established as a health philanthropy in 1972.

Lavizzo-Mourey joined the Foundation in 2001 as senior vice president and director of its health care group and was named president and chief executive officer in 2003. Prior to coming to the Foundation, she was the Sylvan Eisman Professor of Medicine and Health Care Systems and director of the University of Pennsylvania's Institute on Aging. Before coming to the University of Pennsylvania, she served as associate chief of staff at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Medical Center and was deputy administrator for the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Policy and Research.

Lavizzo-Mourey earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lavizzo-Mourey's addition to Genworth's board increases its number of directors to ten.
