Simon Malls Launch 'Black Friday' and the 2008 Holiday Season, with Value, Variety, and Fun for Consumers Nationwide
A New Initiative and an Array of Perks Await Shoppers When Doors Open at 5 A.M. at Most Simon Properties the Day After Thanksgiving
INDIANAPOLIS, Nov 25, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Early-bird shopping on the Friday after Thanksgiving is an annual tradition for holiday bargain hunters across the country. This year Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE:SPG) is opening its malls extra early to help consumers get an even faster jump on their holiday gift lists.

Most Simon malls will open their doors at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, November 28, the traditional start to the holiday shopping season, where consumers will be met with more retailer offers and savings and customer amenities, all under one roof.

Simon's other domestic real estate platforms get an even earlier jump on great holiday savings. Twelve of the 17 Mills(R) properties will open at midnight and the Chelsea Premium Outlet Centers(R) will also open all its 40 centers nationwide at the stroke of midnight to kick off its three-day after Thanksgiving sale. For specific holiday hours by property, please go to www.simon.com and click on your favorite Simon property's website. Special holiday hours can be accessed under the 'Regular Mall Hours' listing.

But before shoppers even hit the mall, Simon wants to help consumers shop smarter by providing information about the many Black Friday and holiday deals on its Web site, www.simon.com, which will offer retailer promotions and other shopping information.

With many of Simon's retailers participating with great offers this holiday season, consumers will be able to go to www.simon.com and print out each offer and bring them on their shopping trip to the mall.

These special offers will also be displayed at each property's Guest Services area. On-mall signage will direct shoppers to Simon Guest Services to view all of the mall promotions. Offers will be refreshed daily and posted in easy-to-locate areas of the Guest Services booth. Printouts will also be available.

"Consumers are looking to make the most of their holiday spending this season and we're making it easier for them than ever before," said Mikael Thygesen, chief marketing officer of Simon Property Group. "Our retailers will be offering very attractive deals and promotions this season and shoppers can access these offers through www.simon.com and on-mall at Simon Guest Services locations."

Thygesen said all Simon malls will include "Rejuvenation Stations," to give shoppers a chance to relax in soft, upholstered furniture, watch television, and pick up free refreshments or a hot cup of coffee.
