MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 25, 2012--
Molina Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: MOH) today announced that its wholly
owned subsidiary, Molina Healthcare of Florida, has executed a contract
with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) to participate in
the Nursing Home Diversion (NHD) program. Molina Healthcare will now
provide home and community-based services in lieu of nursing home
placement for beneficiaries who are eligible for both Medicare and
Medicaid in Pinellas and Hillsborough, Florida. The NHD program is
sponsored by Molina Healthcare of Florida and the State of Florida,
Department of Elder Affairs.
“We are pleased to finalize our contract with DOEA. We think that
Floridians who need home and community-based services will benefit from
our coordinated care model,” said David Pollack, president of Molina
Healthcare of Florida. “Our model helps keep individuals in their own
home and functioning at the highest level possible. A key part of this
new program will be leveraging our partnerships with community
organizations and agencies in order to ensure beneficiaries receive the
right medical services, at the right time in the right setting when they
need them.
“Participating in the NHD program is an important first step toward
building an infrastructure of quality managed health plans to help care
for the growing number of long term care beneficiaries as the nation’s
population ages,” said Pollack.
Molina Healthcare of Florida operates Medicaid and Medicare managed
health plans with membership of approximately 69,000 as of March 31,
2012. Recently the Molina Medical Group opened its first primary care
clinic in the state of Florida in West Palm Beach.
