Northwest Airlink turns in remarkable Performance

Passengers on Northwest Airlink arrived within 15 minutes of schedule 92% of the time, according to Philip H. Trenary, CEO & President of Express Airlines I. Additionally, the airline completed 99% of all scheduled flights in February, maintaining the pattern for reliability established by the airline since its acquisition in April 1997. Express I continues to improve its handling of passenger baggage. Each month the airline has improved Mis-handled Baggage Rates (MBR) by over 50% when compared to the same month the previous year. This improvement is actually compounded as the airline experienced a 20% improvement in 1998 when compared to 1997. This February, 99.99% of all checked bags traveled on the intended flight!

"Our focus on the basics continues to provide dividends for our airline," says Trenary. "When a customer decides to fly with us, he expects a pleasant, uneventful experience. That means professional and conscientious People. It means an on-time arrival at your destination, with your luggage delivered to the claim area in a timely manner. We are pleased with our performance in February and I extend my thanks to the 1,400 People of Northwest Airlink. However, we are never satisfied and will continue to insure our airline is the preferred carrier at every city we call home."

In a related move, Express I has accelerated its project to refurbish its entire fleet of Saab 340 regional airliners. Each aircraft will be retrofitted with an all new interior, including leather seating and a new color scheme, that is designed to provide the appearance of a corporate aircraft. This undertaking will cost in excess of $5 million and should be completed by December 1999.
