GameStop and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® Invite Consumers to Play it Forward During the Annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving® Campaign

GameStop to build on the $1 million raised last year for the treatment and research of childhood cancer

GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2014-- GameStop (NYSE: GME), a family of specialty retail brands that makes the most popular technologies affordable and simple, is again joining forces with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® to ask the public to, “Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not.” For the second year, GameStop will participate in the annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving® campaign, inviting consumers to donate while they shop during the holiday season and join GameStop and St. Jude in finding cures and saving children.

“Community involvement is a way of life at GameStop, and the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign is one of many ways we offer support,” said Tony Bartel, president of GameStop. “Clearly meaningful to our associates and customers, we raised more than $1 million for St. Jude in 2013 through this initiative and I am confident we will exceed our goal again this year.”

Customers who shop at GameStop beginning November 3 until December 24, 2014, will have the opportunity to donate in stores or online to help the children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As a thank-you, customers who make donations at any GameStop location will receive a coupon for 10 percent off the future purchase of a pre-owned game.

In addition, because of the enthusiastic support of the campaign at the more than 4,200 U.S. GameStop locations in 2013, this year the company has expanded participation to its family of specialty retail brands. “It is gratifying to be able to give our associates and customers at BuyMyTronics.com, Game Informer, Kongregate.com and Spring Mobile, an AT&T authorized retailer, the opportunity to be part of this incredibly worthwhile program,” added Bartel.

“We are blessed to have the support from GameStop and their customers,” said Marlo Thomas, national outreach director for St. Jude. “Their dedication to the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign will help raise awareness and funds that support the research that leads to lifesaving treatments for children across the country and around the world. Their support will also help us stay true to my father's promise that no family pays St. Jude for anything. I am so grateful for GameStop’s loyal friendship to the children of St. Jude.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Created by Marlo, Terre and Tony Thomas – children of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas – the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign is an unprecedented union of celebrities, media, retail and corporate brands, that asks consumers to donate while they shop during the holiday season to support the lifesaving research and treatment at St. Jude. What began as a holiday-focused fundraising effort has grown into an annual tradition that has raised more than $487 million during the past 10 years.
