Third Largest Deployment of TASER(R) Devices in the USA
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TASER International,
Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR, TASRW), a market leader in advanced less-lethal weapons,
today announced that the Cincinnati Police Department has ordered 1,100 TASER
X26 conducted energy weapons with a value of over $1 million. This order
constitutes the third largest U.S. deployment in the company's history.
"The TASER X26 is the only instrument to revolutionize an aspect of
policing in the past 35 year," said Colonel Thomas H. Streicher, Jr., Police
Chief of Cincinnati. "The last piece of equipment to have a similar effect on
police operations was the personally assigned portable radio system which
occurred in the late 1960's to early 1970's. It is anticipated that using the
TASER X26 will alleviate the need for traditional methods of use of force and
result in a significant reduction of injuries to the citizens and police
officers of Cincinnati," said Colonel Streicher.
"The Cincinnati Police Department's order is tremendous in terms of its
scope and size for each first responder," said Tom Smith, President of TASER
International. "The Cincinnati Police Department's order is the second full
deployment in the state of Ohio and almost matches the Ohio State Trooper's
full deployment of 1,163 ADVANCED TASER M26 conducted energy weapons. Each of
these two full deployments in Ohio is a further affirmation of our message
that the TASER(R) brand conducted energy weapon is 'safety every officer
deserves'," said Mr. Smith. Currently over 200 law enforcement agencies
deploy TASER conducted energy weapons in the state of Ohio.
