|
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Ralph F. Hake, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR), has been elected to the board of directors for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). He also was named to chair the organization's Taxation and Economic Policy Group. Hake, who joined Fluor in 1999, previously served as a board member of NAM when he was an executive with Whirlpool Corporation. During NAM's recent meeting in Washington, D.C., he was elected to one of four at-large directorships, which the organization reserves for non-manufacturing corporation executives. NAM's mission is to enhance the competitiveness of manufacturers and improve living standards for working Americans by shaping a legislative and regulatory environment conducive to U.S. economic growth, and to increase understanding among policy-makers, the media and the general public about the importance of manufacturing to America's economic strength. Fluor Corporation's ties to NAM run deep, with the late J. Robert Fluor, chairman and chief executive officer of Fluor Corporation during the company's early history, serving as chairman of the NAM board in 1965. Previous to joining Fluor, Hake held a variety of management posts at Whirlpool, including president of Bauknect Appliances in Germany, a subsidiary; executive vice president of the company's North American Appliance Group; and senior executive vice president for global operations. He was named senior executive vice president and chief financial officer at Whirlpool in 1997. Prior to Whirlpool, Hake served as a finance executive with Mead Corporation. Hake's academic background includes a master's degree in economics from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati.
