| History: | California Pizza Kitchen began in 1985 when attorneys Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax traded in the courtroom for the dining room. Having always wanted to get into the restaurant business, they pitched their legal pads and turned toward California-style pizzas. After several months of exploring and countless hours of research, they set out to re-invent pizza in the United States opening the first California Pizza Kitchen in Beverly Hills, CA on March 27, 1985. |

| Locations: | The chain operates, licenses or franchises more that 250 restaurants in 33 states and nine foreign countries. The newest concept in the CPK family, LA Food Show, opened in June 2003 in Manhattan Beach, CA, and in October 2008 in Beverly Hills, CA. |
| CPK/ASAP: | CPK has further responded to the needs of its customers by rolling out CPK ASAP locations, predominantly in airports and malls. The CPK ASAP concept features a specialized selection of high quality, hearth-baked pizzas, salads, soups and sandwiches from the full-service restaurant menu but in a setting that provides customers with a faster, more convenient way to experience the imaginative CPK food. | Hearth-baking: | The hearth is central to the California Pizza Kitchen experience and gives the California-style pizzas their signature taste. CPK's hearth-baked pizzas are cooked rather quickly, 3-7 minutes, in approximately 500 degree heat. The hearth bakes the pizza dough to absolute perfection, producing a crust characteristic of fine bread. It also gives meats and vegetables a slightly smoky flavor, and helps give California Pizza Kitchen favorites like our Original Barbeque Chicken and Thai Chicken pizzas their distinctive taste. |
| CPKids Programs: | California Pizza Kitchen continues to be an active part in its communities by offering CPKids Restaurant Tours where children have the opportunity to get an up close and personal tour of the restaurant behind-the-scenes and make their own pizzas. In addition, CPK provides schools with complimentary VIP Passes (free CPKids meal!) to award to exceptional students throughout the year. CPK also hosts CPKids FUNdraising events to help schools raise money by donating a percentage of their purchases on a designated day to their school or activity. |
| CPK Foundation: | Since its inception, it has been a fundamental principle of California Pizza Kitchen to become involved in charitable activities and support charitable organizations in the communities that CPK serves. To maintain that commitment, each new California Pizza Kitchen opening is held in conjunction with a local children's charity. Immediately following the grand opening of the restaurant, a day is designated as "Pizza Day" where 100% of pizza sales are donated to the local charity. In addition to the charitable activities of the CPK Foundation, thousands of dollars worth of product are contributed annually to help children and the organizations that serve them. |
| KRAFT Partnership: | In 1999, California Pizza Kitchen partnered with Kraft Pizza Company, the nation's leading frozen pizza company, to launch the new line of California Pizza Kitchen Frozen Pizza in Southern California. The frozen line features many of the restaurant's most popular pizzas (including BBQ Chicken, Thai Chicken, Five Cheese and Tomato, Garlic Chicken, Sicilian, White, and Margherita) in regular, thin crust and pizza-for-one options. In 2004, the line of California Pizza Kitchen Frozen Pizzas began distribution in all major national markets. |
